Blue Envy's Shipwreck EP is their recording debut, and does a great job of displaying the band's different influences. Each song on the EP has its own unique sound, ranging from the fun, bluesy sound of 3AM to the dark, brooding sound of Cellar Door.
Recorded during the pandemic, this single shows Blue Envy's experimental side thanks to an awesome baritone sax solo by Abram Collier.
This EP represents a step up for the band, both in terms of creativity and energy. "Deviant" starts the album off with a bang, while "Moonlight" shows a softer side of the band's sound, "Pollux" effectively closes out the EP by showing off the development of the band's compositions.
Over the past two years since their previous release, alt-rock trio Blue Envy from Rochester, NY has toured extensively around the Northeastern underground scene. During this time the band worked to develop songs reminiscent of their prog rock roots, but with a bigger emphasis on raw rock 'n' roll energy and groove.
Funky bass, blistering guitar, and drums fill that thunder at break-neck speed.
